James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve

I will collect leaves from scarlet monkeyflowers occurring at James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve. I will select 4 plants, record characteristics including height, number of flowers, and density of intra- and interspecific individuals, and collect 3 fully-expanded, healthy leaves from each individual. I will transport these leaves back to North Carolina State University, where I will culture foliar endophytic fungi, which will then be used as inocula in experiments examining whether foliar endophytes induce plasticity of Scarlet monkeyflower growth and flowering time in response to temperature.
