This is a statewide, ongoing survey to document species occurrence and geographic distribution, as well as habitat and microhabitat preferences of aquatic beetles in the families Elmidae, Dryopidae, Psephenidae, and Eulichadidae. Because of my UC affiliation, I have make an effort over the years to conduct mini-surveys within the NRS system and other UC properties in order to provide faunistic lists and basic data regarding the aquatic dryopoid fauna, if present. Surveys of this group of beetles have so far been completed at the following: Angelo Reserve, Sagehen Reserve, Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, Hastings Natural History Reservation, Granite Mountains Reserve, Santa Cruz Island Reserve, Blodgett Forest Research Station, and Hopland Field Research and Extension Center. Recently the museum received NSF BRC funding for CalBug <http://calbug.berkeley.edu/Overview.html>, a CA specimen digitization project which includes this group of beetles among others as target organisms, and the UC Reserve System as focus areas.
