One of the goals of the Essig Museum is the utilization of its collection to facilitate and document research, teaching, and outreach in arthropod biology in the State of California. This necessitates collecting specimens from as wide a variety of habitats as possible, and we have organized annual field trips throughout California to sample the wide divesity of the California fauna.
