Boyd Deep Canyon Desert Research Center

We plan to measure key environmental variables (soil water potential, temperatures, PAR, relative humidity, and windspeed) and relate these to plant responses (water potential, photosynthesis, transpiration, chlorophyll fluorescence). We will not uproot or remove whole plants or any other organism, though we will remove single leaves and small branches for measurements of plant water potential. Our soil samples will be small (up to 20 20-gram tins). We will work with vegetation at the lower site, not at Agave Hill. We will confine our measurements to locally abundant or common (and not endangered or threatened) plant species.
