White Mountain Research Center
29 Sep, 04 PM - 07 Oct, 02 PM
The field trip is a part of the Ge121a (Advanced Field Geology) class at Caltech. During this trip, we will visit local sites in the Owens Valley with exceptional records of past tectonic activities. Students will learn to recognize geomorphic features of active faults, establish the morphotectonic history of the region, and estimate slip rates along these faults and conduct seismic hazard assessments.
