Examination of polyandry in the praying mantis Stagmomantis limbata. Females will be collected in Bishop and Big Pine and housed in small containers in a shaded area at the Owens Valley Laboratory in Bishop. Females will be placed in small field cages to attract males for mating experiments. Mating experiments focus on the fitness benefits to females provided by polyandry, as well as behavioral interactions between competing males. Mating experiments will occur indoors in small insect cages.
