Eric Ekdale - Whales in the digital Age: Using CT Imaging to unravel the mysteries of Baleen Whales. Digital imaging technologies, such as high resolution X-ray computed tomography (CT), reveals interesting adaptations for an obligate aquatic lifestyle in living and extinct baleen whales (Mysticeti). In particular, digital reconstruction of the mysticete skull helps to elucidate the ancestral hearing physiology of living whales, as well as the timing of the evolution of baleen.
