LEARNING OUTCOMES AND GRADES 1. Students will refine their academic and professional goals by exploring and reflecting upon their unique personal histories and experiences. 2. Students will locate, read, and synthesize scientific journal articles and write a literature review article that comprehensively summarizes a topic of their choosing. 3. Students will utilize creative writing exercises to write outstanding personal statements, suitable for application to graduate school or professional jobs, which communicate their diverse backgrounds and interests. 4. Students will improve their writing through effective self-assessment and revision, peer review, and instructor feedback. We will do a variety of exploratory writing and scientific research activities. By spending this time in nature, away from digital technology, we will slow down, focus our attention on defining our interests and personal histories, as well as the world around us.
