Blue Oak Ranch Reserve

Collect floral scent from woodland star (Lithophragma) plants and co-occurring species as part a longterm field study of coevolution between prodoxid moths and their host plants. We have included the Blue oak populations of Lithophragma and Greya in previous analyses of these coevolving interactions, but, until now, we have not had a chance to collect floral scents from the Blue Oak plants. There will be either two or three of us: Magne Friberg, Paula Lemos, John Thompson. Magne is a former postdoc in my lab at UCSC. He is now an assistant professor at University of Uppsala, Sweden, but we have now received a Swedish grant to continue our work. Paulinha is a doctoral student from Brazil working with us on these analyses. Our plan is to visit either on Monday or Tuesday, April 4 or 5, as we are traveling among field sites in California.
