Goals Documentation of Insects - 500+ insect observation Community Building - strengthen a community of people interested in documenting insects Identification of Insects - strengthen the ability of participants to recognize major taxanomic groups of insects, so that they can be aware of what aspects to document for identification Aug 3 BioBlitz until noon 1 pm: Set up camp 1:30 pm: Sagehen Orientation (by site managers) 2 - 3 pm: How to find and photograph insects How to photograph with a cell phone (macro) 3:30 - 4 pm: Break 4:00 - 4:30 pm: Introduction to iNaturalist 4:30 - 6 pm: Free exploration 6:00 - 7:30 pm: Dinner / downtime / mothlight setup 7:30 - 9 pm: Eddie lecture on bug taxonomy 9 - 11 pm: Mothlights / night hike Aug 4th Pack up after wake up so we can be out on time from Sagehen 9 am = Intro to techniques using nets, sheets, and aspirators 10-12 = hike to fen 12:00 Lunch with microscopes 1:30 pm - 3pm - Goodbyes
