Sagehen Creek Field Station

I plan to conduct an observation-based study of Bombus foraging behavior at flowering patches of Dodecatheon alpinum and Pedicularis groenlandica at Sagehen Creek Field Station. This entails surveying blooming density of floral populations, observing bumblebee behavior at these patches, monitoring individual seed-set at a subset of flowering plants, and taking floral petal color measurements. Both Dodecatheon alpinum and Pedicularis groenlandica are wet-meadow specialists, and so I will focus on these habitats along Sagehen creek Rd. No equipment will be left at field sites, and no materials save bee-swabbed pollen samples will be removed.
