Sagehen Creek Field Station

Hold a 2-day, 1-night weekend field trip for the entire class at the UC System field station at Sagehen Creek, in the Sierra Nevada north of Truckee CA, in order to: ? Expose students to a realistic multi-disciplinary resource management challenge, specifically the management of a small Sierra Nevada watershed for combined water supply, timber supply, fire control and biodiversity conservation. ? Expose students in a field setting to a wide range of science disciplines and techniques related to resource management and environmental science. ? Expose students in a field setting to NRES faculty and their expertise. ? Develop social cohesion amongst students for better subsequent learning outcomes during regular class periods throughout the semester.
