Sagehen Creek Field Station

This project is identical to the project conducted in July, 2007. I wish to figure out how male calliope hummingbirds produce their dive-sound, specifically, whether or not they are generating their dive-sound with their tail-feathers. The project will involve recording birds, then catching and manipulating their tail morphology, and possibly collecting a limited number. My previous trip generated interesting data but I need to manipulate more birds to attain sample sizes sufficient for publication.
