Sagehen Creek Field Station

In preparation for the 2008-09 GK-12 Program, graduate student fellows will visit Sagehen Creek field station for orientation to the site and to review possible field activities for 7th graders who will visit the station in the fall. Activities will include natural history hikes to various Sierran habitats (chapparal, forest, streams, fen), live-trapping of small mammals, insect catching/collecting (using aerial and sweep nets, night lights, beat sheets, and possible pitfall traps) and plant collecting, pressing and id. We plan to stay one night. Mammal trapping will be done on the hill above lower camp and next to the lab.
