Sagehen Creek Field Station

I am conducting this work at the Donner Camp Picnic area, which is outside of the field station, but a part of the Tahoe National Forest. I will be applying ant exclusion and aphid exclusion treatments to some sagebrush plants in the area. I will be measuring changes in aphid and ant density in different treatments and recording which insects are present in each treatment. The purpose of these experiments is to determine the extent to which the aphids and ants depend on one another and to see if the presence of this mutualism on a plant alters the diversity and/or abundance of other insects found on the plant. I have obtained permission from the Truckee Ranger Station to carry out these experiments.
