The fish biology course at UCSB requests the use of facilities and intertidal habitat for its annual course field trip. We plan to arrive on Saturday, October 15th and would like to collect intertidal fish in order to allow our students to examine the diversity of species living in this habitat. We have no preference as to particular collection sites and will leave the precise location of our collections to the discretion of the reserve manager, so as to not interfer with ongoing studies at the reserve. Fish will be collected using handnets by students in the course and held alive in plastic buckets filled with seawater for species identification purposes. All fish will be returned alive to the intertidal habitat. We request camping space and use of the RV and trailer to cook dinner for our class. We will continue on to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on the morning of Sunday, October 16th.
