A field course introducing the ecology of the wetland habitats of the Morro Bay region (mudflats, salt marsh, rocky outer coast) Course content & scope Morro Bay, in San Luis Obispo County, will be the focal point for biological studies in this course. A 2 day field experience will be preceded by classroom meetings for orientation and academic lectures, and followed by a summary lecture and final exam. Students will be camping out at Morro Bay State Park. Physical ecology of coastal habitats 2. Infauna & epifuana of estuarine mudflats 3. Infauna & Epifauna of salt marsh 4. Marine birds and their migrations, habits, and life systems. 5. Intertidal organisms and their distribution on sandy beaches 6. Sand dune vegetation and ecology 7. Intertidal organisms and their distribution on rocky open coastal sea shores
