Sedgwick Reserve

Together with the Sedwick Reserve Director, the students will develop and test sustainable building design concepts for several buildings in the reserve's master plan. The use area is limited to the boundaries of the current proposal for development in proximity to the existing structures. The benefits to the reserve in hosting this class at the reserve are in the detailed exploration of how building development can occur in a way that minimizes negative impacts to the site and optimizes the use of natural resources such as sun, wind, and water. Students will develop and test physical (scale) models of their building proposals, as well as conduct computer simulations, that will allow the reserve to explore future options that couple architectural form with energy and environmental performance.
