Sedgwick Reserve

As part of an NSF-sponsored workshop on histerid beetle taxonomy I will be leading a small team to observe and sample local species in this beetle family. The PI has an ongoing project to document the beetle diversity of California, and the results of this day visit will also further the goals of that larger project. We plan to run two flight intercept traps and a few small pitfall traps for a period of 6 days to survey activity of the fauna. The traps use non-toxic preservatives and are equipped to exclude small vertebrates. All specimens will be permanently housed in the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
