The S.B. Men's Circle has been in existence for approximately ten years and we fluxuate between 18 to 26 active members with a total of 50 or so members. We meet weekly and for the past 3-4 years we have been meeting at the new La Casa de Maria on Ladera lane in Monetcito (you may contact them if you wish). Our purpose may be described as a forum for men to explore their lives in the presence of respectful caring men. Twice each year we hold retreats at various venues to become closer and have more time to do our personal work. For several years we used the Taft Ranch/Center for Earth Concerns near Ojai until they lost their conditional use permit and could no longer host any public groups. Of late we have used the Sage Hill campground in the Redrock area of the Santa Ynez river and the campgrounds on Santa Cruz island. We will be camping in tents and would like to use the area shown to us for camping. Our food will be prepared mostly off-site and delivered to us two to three times per day. If it rains during our stay we would like to use the sculpture studio to hold our meetings (in general, during most of the daylight hours, we will be meeting in a single large group). We would like to use the fire pit area in the evenings if possible. As a rule we do not venture too far from our camping area, but in any case will respect the reserve's ecosystem. If there are any areas that are off-limits please let us know so that we can avoid them. One thing I do want to mention is that we drum as a group a couple of times per day for approximately 20 mins or so. We are respectful of the timing of this activity. I hope that this addresses any concerns you may have about our group, if you wish to contact me please feel free to do so. Regards, Mario da Cunha, retreat coordinator
