This year's work is a continuation of the studies of coevolution between Greya moths and Lithophragma plants that I have been conducting at Sedgwick over the past four years. It involves surveys and collections of Greya moths, co-pollinators of Lithophragma, and above-ground parts of Lithophragma plants The work is assessing the effects of these insects on plant survival, plant reproduction, and local adaptation in the plants and the insects. This work is part of a larger scale project that is using these interactions to evaluate how coevolving plants and insects adapt and diverge genetically across large geographic scales and how fragmentation of ecosystems may be affecting the ecological and genetic structure of these interactions. This year's work in a continuation of an NSF-funded project that NSF has recently renewed for four more years (spring 2009 through spring 2013).
