Sedgwick Reserve

The Vertebrate Collections of the Museum of Systematics and Ecology assists with the gathering of data pertaining to general vertebrate activities, population trends, rare species occurrences, and lists of vertebrates on Sedgwick Reserve. Most of our efforts are on an opportunistic basis but occasionally we provide certain data needs with respect to vertebrates. One example of this is the annual Christmas Bird Count sponsored by the National Audubon Society. (Sedgwick Ranch occupies a small area within the 15-mile diameter Lake Cachuma Count Circle.) Additionally, the Museum of Systematics and Ecology serves as the reposistory for vouchers for research projects and salvaged and collected specimens for the reserve.
