Sedgwick Reserve

Our course provides students with an intensive 9 days in the field. Our goal is to compare a wide range of ecosystems in the region in terms of their physical environment, biological adaptations, community structure and dynamics, ecosystem function, and conservation issues. At Sedgwick, we will want students to visit a range of chapparal and woodland communities, and see the setups for some of the studies taking place there. We would like our activities to have no significant impact on ecosystems, cultural resources, or studies. With permission of the director, we would benefit from taking twigs with leaves and/or reproductive structures from common plant species for identification and for a trip plant collection.
