Stunt Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve

Per conversation with Carol, I took my class out there on the 28th and 29th for a 1.5hr walk for botanizing. Now, several of them would like to do their research projects at the reserve. I have six undergraduate students who would like to come in and sample some of the plant materialin the following three ways: 1) introduced grasses -- whole plant collection near road sides and in meadow. 10 individuals from each location for examining water retention in tissues. 2) introduced Medicago -- 10-20 whole flowering individuals from hillsides and from flat surfaces for examining nodulation per root biomass. 3) Salvia and Artimesia -- 20 cm shoot from 5 individuals of 5 species for analysis of organic volatile compound. All sampling will be completed by 10 April.
