Hastings Natural History Reservation

Under the supervision of Dr. Robbin Thorp and Dr. Gordon Frankie, participants will study the pollination ecology of Hastings Reserve. A variety of field excercises designed to demonstrate how and when flowers make their pollen and nectar rewards available to pollinators, and how pollinators use their behavioral, morphological, and physiological adaptations to extract floral resources. Attention will be focused on solitary bee species. We will set pan traps and do some minimal collecting for identification and educational purposes.
