Hastings Natural History Reservation

We will bring a group of 13 students from Carmel High School for a two day visit during which our two grad student fellows will demonstrate various techniques for the study of ecology and natural history, and introduce the students to the habitats and organisms of Hastings. Activities will include insect collecting (sweep nets, coverboards, blacklighting for nigh flying insects), study of plant identification and adaptation (which may include a small amount of collecting and pressing of plant specimens). All activities will be low impact and care will be taken to avoid disturbing organisms and ongoing research.
