Hastings Natural History Reservation

We will gain an appreciation for California's biodiversity by making a species list for mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles observed, and the students will do species accounts in their journals. We will identify and sketch native trees, shrubs, and grasses.The reserve director has generously offered to present an overview of the reserve and ongoing research projects on Thursday evening. This promises to be a real treat, as the director is out standing in his field.We will prepare and eat dinner on Thursday evening, hear the presentation, then go out for a quiet night hike to listen for frog calls and see the stars.On Friday, we will go for a plant ID hike on the reserve, we will return to the reserve to pack up and head out.
