Angelo Coast Range Reserve

We will be focusing our activities in the Elder Creek drainage (where we will be searching for tailed frogs and torrent salamanders, among other species of amphibians), the White House (where we will be looking primarily for reptiles) and areas surrounding Fox Creek Cabins. We will be searching for and identifying as many species of amphibians and reptiles as possible. Animals will be handled only long enough to be identified and briefly observed by the class. Care will be taken to minimize disturbance to habitats. We will carefully replace all cover objects removed or dislodged in the course of searching. We will try to avoid trampling vegetation as much as possible. No animals will be removed from the reserve. The students will need access to Fox Creek Cabins for housing and cooking. If space is available, the instructor requests access to Wilderness Lodge for housing.
