Angelo Coast Range Reserve

Jim Cunnings visiting his daughter, Adrienne CunningsThe 2011 research project extends on the work carried out from the 2010 field season based on the population dynamics of riparian trees. The current field season will undertake a river bathymetry survey on the South Fork Eel River on 2 reaches of approx 150m in length. River depth, slope, velocity profile, and bed roughness will be included in the cross-sectional surveys. Additionally, a hydrochory pilot experiment will be tested to explore dispersal and depositional patterns. Mimic seeds will be released and tracked along the reach while a surface net will collect non-deposited seeds. Approximately two weeks of field work is expected on each reach.
