Angelo Coast Range Reserve

The Habitat Inventory Surveys that the Department of Fish and Game carry out seek to describe the habitat available to anadromous fish species (coho salmon, chinook salmon and steelhead trout). This involves a 2-person crew walking up the stream thalwag while recording quantitative (ie maximum depths of pools, canopy cover) and qualitative data (ie habitat complexity).The data we collect is turned into a report which details ways that habitat can be improved. This information is used to fund habitat improvement projects on the creek which will result in increased salmonid populations.
