Younger Lagoon Reserve

From June 23- July 9th the Math Science Upward Bound Program will be hosting students from throughout the Western Region for a college-preparatory course. Students who are returning for a second year have been selected to set-up a wildlife monitoring project. The student will be constructing track plates with motion-activated cameras in order to document the wildlife use of trails within Younger Lagoon. Stations would be placed at a location near the ocean-influenced region of the reserve and one further inland. Students will be using un-baited plates and checking for animal passage twice a week over the four week course. Track plates will be constructed using an ink-toner strip followed by a strip of contact paper, then a plate with fine sand for a total length of 2 meters.
