We plan to continue our analysis of the bacterial endosymbiont Wolbachia infections in wild Drosophila (fruit flies) populations. Specifically we are attempting to identify genetic variants of Drosophila that possess unusually large numbers of Wolbachia in their germline. If we could identify such lines they would be particularly valubale for our molecular and cellular studies.
