Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

We plan to show California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) Coastal Watershed Science and Policy Graduate Students (CWSP) the Big Creek Reserve, and what a valuable resource it might be for their research, as an untouched example of local ecosystems. Additionally, by showing these students the value of UC Reserves, the relationship between CSU students and the UC Reserve system may be enhanced. During our time at Big Creek, we will take hikes through the reserve so students may observe how a protected area differs from an unprotected area, as well as performing visual Steelhead surveys so that students may see what a healthy stream system looks like. This experience will be valuable to them when they are tasked with modeling a system, as well as when they are employed trying to duplicate it.
