Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

The purpose of this class is to gain knowledge and exprience in underwater sampling techniques. We will be diving on SCUBA at two sites: in front of the reserve beach north and south of the creek mouth. Our study will be to compare algae community structure at both sites. We will also look at snails, urchins and stars. We will be doing two dives each day for two days. Each dive will consist of 3, 20 meter transects. Along each transect macro algae will be counted in 2 meter swaths. There will also be 5 quadrats along each transect at randomly determined points to quantify algae and inverts.
