Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

We will characterize the diversity of periphyton and macroinvertebrates in the streams. These will include destructive sampling of rocks for diatom and green algae species and macro-invertebrates. We will also set up drift nets to capture and characterize the temporal variation of macroinvertebrate dispersal. Students will sample and identify macro-invertebrates. Based on our results last year, we will also sample invertebrate drift for a 24 hour period to determine how drift varies on a diel basis.
