Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

The purpose of this visit will be to scout field sites for ongoing work investigating the role of elevational gradients in the population genetic structuring of birds in western North American. This is a comparative project that is aimed at gathering population samples of several species with broad altitudinal distributions in the western US in order to determine levels and patterns of gene flow along elevaitonal gradients and to identify loci contributing to adaptation to high-elevation habitats. The main objective of the visit will be to observe and determine relative abundance of potential study taxa. We only implement visual and auditory surveys of birds during the visit. Although, future work would involve capturing birds and collecting genetic samples, this trip is only aimed at observation. Thus, below I do not indicate that the project will involve capturing or manipulating birds. If possible, please provide a list of bird species that are know to occur in the reserve.
