Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

Continuation of fieldwork for the Educational Guidebook for the Landels-Hills Big Creek Reserve and Contiguous Big Sur Coastline, which is the Master's project, in partial fullfilment of Master's degree from University of Texas at Austin. Gathering of photographic, geologic and tectonic data within the Big Creek Reserve, as well as several stops outside of the Reserve. This data and information will be included in the guidebook which is to become a resource for geology fieldtrips within the Reserve, for use with secondary, post-secondary and professionals continuing education. Description of Environmental Manipulations Field work would consist of observing and measuring rock outcrops and plotting fault contacts. Equipment that would be in use includes Brunton compass and rock hammers. If allowed, small rock samples or small diameter core samples would be collected to create thin sections and for compositional analysis of the rocks.
