Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

Exploring New Horizons Outdoor School is a non-profit residential environmental education school that has been in operation in the Santa Cruz Mountains for 28 years. We provide week long programs for 5th and 6th grade students in the bay area and beyond at our three sites located in Loma Mar (near Pescadero), Pidgeon Point Lighthouse and Boulder Creek. We have approximately 30 naturalists that work for our organization and during our Fall staff training we typically enjoy to take a journey and explore another environment as a means to keep the wonder alive in our personal journey of becoming better naturalists. After speaking with Kurt Merg, it seems as if the Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve would be the optimal site for our staff to enjoy the Big Sur coast and to spend a few days observing the life that thrives in that environment. This training will be the inspiration that will transfer to the 4500 students that we serve during the 2007-8 school year. We will not alter the area in any way -- we will take pictures in our minds and walk as lightly as possible. Please notify me if you have any other questions.
