Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve

This represents a continuing study, (begun April 2005), of the interactions of geomorphology and large woody debris on Devil's Fork of Big Creek. We will be photographing and recording through field notes how woody debris and natural bank armoring from plants provides for bank stability relative to geomorphic conditions, including bedrock controls, step pools and channel configuration. We will also be observing the extent to which an extreme sub-normal rainy season may effect these interactions and the extent to which natural bank armoring is stressed by relative lack of rain. No plant samples will be taken.
