Motte Rimrock Reserve

The Cactus Wren (CACW) is one of 146 species Covered by the Western Riverside County Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP). As such, objectives have been put forth that outline how we, as the Biological Monitoring Program for the MSHCP, can assess the abundance of CACW in the Plan Area. One such objective states that we must conserve a certain acreage of suitable CACW habitat, which consists of cholla and prickly pear cactus 1 meter tall or taller. The Motte-Rimrock Reserve has been identified by the MSHCP as one of 11 potential Core Areas for CACW, so mapping any potential CACW habitat at the Reserve would be valuable information for us.
