Understanding how species ranges will respond to climate change has crucial implications for both long-term conservation planning and biogeochemistry. However, little field-testing has been done to establish the accuracy of current bioclimate models that predict such range shifts. This project therefore proposes to study seedling dynamics in a mixed conifer forest in an effort to develop a field-based understanding of climate change-induced shifts in tree species ranges.
