A magnetotelluric survey of the Long Valley Caldera Hydrothermal System. This requires the deployment of a radio frequency transmitter and magnetometers (measure the magnetic field) and electric potentiometer electrodes. The magnetometers and electrodes detect the response of the Earth to the incident electromagnetic waves. The result is a profile of the electrical resistivity structure (sensitive to the presence of water and clay) of the Earth.
