Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory

Our research in 2009 includes (1) ongoing mark-recapture studies of mountain yellow-legged frogs in Yosemite National Park to quantify survivorship across an elevational gradient of frogs infected with chytridiomycosis, and (2) a whole-lake experiment in Kings Canyon National Park to test the hypothesis that pathogen pressure (chytrid zoospore density) influences disease outcomes (population persistence versus extinction). Both research projects are covered under research permits issued by the National Park Service.
