Santa Cruz Island Reserve

Thrust of trip will be sent planting Arabis hofmanii seedlings into remaining/empty half of paired plot experiment established in Dec 05. Will be burying edging. Then planting 5 seedlings/plot in 20 plots, totaling 300 plants. Then water. Will return in following weeks to water and check progress. Will also be re-visiting Malacothamnus fasciculatus var. nesioticus and Arabis hofmanii out-planting experiment sites started in Dec 2005. Will water and monitor progress. Part of previously described island-wide rare plant restoration project by USGS and NPS. Exact locations provided previously. General locations: Bluebanks Exclosure, Alberts Rd, Valley Anchorage Exclosure, European Field Exclosure, Portezuelo Exclosure, Lagunitas Secas Rd. Will also be preparing Arabis sites for seedling planting as paired plot treatment to previously seeded plots. Includes burying edging and watering soil. May also check if time permits the known population of barberry near Trident to see if in flower.
