Santa Cruz Island Reserve

The American Ornithologists' Union meets on the UCSB Campus from 23 to 27 August 2005. Steve Rothstein is the host. I am coordinating field trips. We apply for a post-meeting trip to SCI that will attempt to accommodate both students and non-students at the Research Station. Both private rooms and dorm accommodations are needed. Transportation is most likely by boat to Prisoner's Harbor. We would need transport from and to Prisoner's and the RS, access to pick-up truck and jeep(s) for transportation while on the island. The exact number of participants is not known but we expect two leaders and up to 14 students or non-student participants. It is not certain who will be the trip leaders at this time. Lyndal, I will be out of the country from 9 February to 5 March and Jim Rivers (rivers@lifesci) will be communicating on my behalf during my absence. But I will be in occasional e-mail contact while I'm gone. (maholmgren@yahoo.com). Please copy me on all e-mails. There is some urgency to find out if you can accommodate this trip because of the need to post the trip offering on the web site from which most people will both sign up for the meeting and the trips. I am hoping you will work with me to arrange two rates, one for students and another for non-students. The areas that allow us to create a student rate are for dorm use rather than room use and I'm hoping you might waive the Prisoner's transport fee for students knowing that we will have non-students who can cover that. Is there any other expense in which you might assist in reducing the rate? Should I work with you or with Donna to set the two rates? Thanks. Finally, could you give me the link to the form that we would post on the web site that would-be participants will fill out? We will wait until participants are confirmed before asking them to fill the form out.
