Santa Cruz Island Reserve

I am interested in scheduling our class to stay at the UC Natural Reserve accomodations in the central valley near the main Stanton Ranch. I plan to take the class hiking to Valley Anchorage for a geology hike on one day and to Coches Prietos for a plant community hike (grasslands, oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub, etc.)on another day (we will do a plant community exercise running transects and estimating plant diversity and biomass - a non-invasive exercise). I would like to work with TNC and the UC Natural Reserve on involving my students in an ongoing introduced plant erradication or native plant restoration effort for a morning or afternoon. If possible I would like to take the class on an island tour to the very west end of Santa Cruz Island - this would require vehicles that would accomodate up to 22 persons. The purpose of this field experience is to introduce Westmont Island Biology class students to the Santa Cruz Island Ecosystem (geology, natural and human history, island biogeography)and to involve them in several field monitoring projects including plant community comparisons, introduced plant species eradication (restoration ecology), and to introduce them to ongoing island research. If the dates I have requested are available I will need to look into boat transportation options (does the Navy still run a suppy boat to Prisoners Harbor on a specific schedule? or does the CINP operate a supply vessel that classes can piggy-back on?) I just wanted to get in this application to secure the dates asap - I imagine this that the UC Santa Cruz Island reserve is in high demand and I may be too late.
