Santa Cruz Island Reserve

The purpose of this trip on May 22, is to provide an introductory overview of the Channel Islands and surrounding waters to teachers from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Teachers will be participating in onboard floating laboratory activities and a fish count at Prisoners. We will be arriving to Prisoners Harbor, Santa Cruz Island at 10:00AM aboard the NOAA vessel SHEARWATER and M/V CONCEPTION. We would like to unload passengers at the pier and hike up to the lookout tower so teachers will have an opportunity to check out the interpretive exhibits in the tower and observe flora and fauna during the hike. We'd also like to offer the option for teachers to continue on the trail and use the interpretive guide to learn about more of the flora and fauna of the Santa Cruz Island. Teachers will be returning to the vessels by 12:30pm that same day.
