GIS / GPS Exercise for selected locations to be determined by Lyndal Laughrin & Erik Aschehoug. Assignment can be remote locations requiring students to be prepared with tents, water, etc. Project assignment includes developing data dictioary (determine attributes), field data collection (GPS, measuring, surveying), processing data, import into GIS and if necessary create CAD Asbbuilt Drawings (buildings, ranches). Exercise earlier than last year to allow students adequate time to complete data proccessing. Additional day requested if available to enable students to complete most all work for TNC before departure. Students come from various backgrounds including fire, architecture, geography, archeology, biology, computer science, law enforcement to list a few.
