Santa Cruz Island Reserve

The purpose of this visit involves several aspects: First, to back fill the excavation unit up at the Diablo Valdez site (SCRI-619/620), and get the remaining samples that were just left at the cell site ready to take off the island (boxed up, labeled, etc.); Second, to collect some fall-ripening seeds and nuts from various locations for the macrobotanical comparative collection at UCSB; Third, to show my research areas to my parents (crew members), who have helped me financially with excavations this past summer. Because of the nature of the activities I need to conduct, I do not need an archaeologically experienced crew, and would like to take this opportunity to share my research with the people who support me. I would like to stay at Christy with them for a portion of the trip, if possible. This past summer, Brian and I had talked about me coming out just to help around the station whenever I have the time. I would like to take him up on that during this trip. We can help out around Christy (if needed) or the field station, doing whatever needs to be done. My dad is an excellent mechanic, and would be more than happy to help out with vehicles (again, if needed).
