Santa Cruz Island Reserve

We wish to collect samples of shells from buried archaeological strata exposed on the wall of a ravine near the northern end of Christy Beach. The shells will be used to obtain radiocarbon dates that will determine whether these strata date earlier than 8500 years ago, as expected. If so, this information will be used to design a larger-scale archaeological investigation.
